For six months, Clio Pavlidis Andersson lived in Tallinn as an exchange student, an experience that reshaped her understanding of relationships. While there, she quickly realised how distance can cool a relationship, and how differently we might approach expectations within a relationship.
The film draws from her iPhone’s video archive of friends and family, interwoven with new material from Tallinn. All the footage is filmed from Pavlidis Andersson’s computer screen, a deliberate choice to emphasise the sense of separation and isolation she felt from home. This approach also reflects the fragmented and mediated nature of modern communication, where screens often replace physical presence.
Sinsemellan is a reflection of how difficult it is to keep each other warm at a distance and the unexpected ease of connecting with strangers in new surroundings. Through this film, the artist invite viewers to reflect on the complexities of human connection in an increasingly digital world.
